Creativity is a critical factor for economic growth and sustainable development worldwide. Innovation, digital transformation, or the transformation of society would be unthinkable without creativity. At the intersection of creativity and innovation with the economy and social welfare are the cultural and creative industries.
The cultural and creative industries are an exciting economic sector, encompassing a wide range of fields, from architecture to music, film to fashion, visual arts to the gaming industry. In this vibrant competitive environment, in addition to the big international companies, freelance artists and creative entrepreneurs who have set up micro-enterprises also operate. The cultural and creative industries catalyze a fast-growing, innovative, knowledge-based economy. They are among the fastest-growing sectors in the global economy. This sector employs nearly 50 million people worldwide – three times as many as the global automotive industry. According to forecasts, the economic impact is expected to triple by 2030. It will account for ten percent of global GDP by this time.
