INSPIRE Masterclass – Navigating Change, Ecmel Ayral (TR)

The first session of the INSPIRE Masterclass series, held on January 29, 2025, focused on change management. Mustafa Caner Meydan, Deputy Director General of Development Agencies, highlighted that this session presented a valuable opportunity for regional development and capacity building.

Dr. Ecmel Ayral, in his talk on leadership and change strategies, emphasized that transformation in cultural industries is inevitable and that leaders must develop skills to cope with uncertainty. He underlined the importance of flexibility and adaptation, discussing concepts such as Chaos Theory and the BANI world (Brittle, Anxious, Non-Linear, Incomprehensible).

Key qualities leaders should possess include:

  • Flexibility and openness to change,
  • Creating a psychologically safe environment,
  • Embracing diversity and inclusivity,
  • Critical thinking.

Ayral also stressed the significance of spontaneous organization and knowledge sharing in the creative industries.
